What's New? I (Ken) promised to keep you up to date with all the modifications I'm making to my new PT Cruiser. This picture is a little hard to see but it shows where I'm at so far.
 The attempt here is not to make a hot rod or custom car but more of a retro look. I've been looking at lots of photos of late 1940's cars and that's where I'm headed. The hood ornament and chrome strips behind the front fenders really add to that look. The chrome "belt line" that goes all the way around the middle of the car adds a nice touch also. One of the really big things was getting rid of the factory painted grill and adding an all chrome one. Now it's really starting to look like the old "chrome sleds" of the 40's. I've ordered some old style hubcaps that should look great if they fit properly. They been hard to find and I'm still not sure if the ones I have on order will really fit. Stay tuned there'll be more to come :-) DigiTalkWe talk more about this than we would like but giving your personal information unsolicited by a stranger over the Internet or through email is unforgivable. Your bank will not ask for this information, PayPal and other such companies will not ask for this information and the FBI will not either. If you get an email that really, really looks legitimate and you feel you really need to reply to it look up the institutions phone number and give them a call. Tell them you got an email requesting certain information and you would like to know if it is real. DO NOT use the phone number that might be supplied with the email to call them. Look up the phone number in a phone book and give them a call. They are so use to these sorts of calls that you need not feel like a fool for asking. The only way you'll feel like a fool is for not asking and loosing your identity to some slick identity thief! SITE OF THE MONTH
Ken's brother Ron found a really neat spell checking program that we downloaded and installed that works really great. Have you ever filled out a response on a web page or submitted a question on a forum that you weren't real sure about the spelling of some of the words? Here's what we would usually do, type the response into Word, spell check it and then cut and paste it into the reply box on the web page. Now you can write messages without being embarrassed or jumping through hoops.
ieSpell is a great little program that works with Internet Explorer. Just type your text into the box on a web page and right click with your mouse. You will see a box pop up that says "check spelling", click on the box and a spell checker pops up just like in Word. It's about a 2.5 meg download and installs really easy. Just go to www.iespell.com, click "download" on the right column and away you go.

MARILYN'S CORNERCandy Christmas Lights
 These candy Christmas lights are really neat and would look good on your Christmas tree as well as on presents. The nice thing about them is after the tree is taken down or the present is unwrapped you can eat them :-) Here's what you'll need:
Remove the little paper string from the end of each Kiss. Place two Kisses back to back and wrap with plastic wrap. Wrap the ends of the plastic wrap tight with twist ties on one end.
Cut a piece of black yarn to the length you want the light string to be. Have fun with this project and be sure to get the kids involved. Shop Storage Solution
It seems like you can never have too much storage space in your shop but where to put extra shelving is a problem. I recently installed some store bought shelving in a closet. It was the wire shelf type that is modular and you can make into about any configuration that will work for you. I had one shelf left over and wasn't sure what to do with it until I thought about my wood shop.
It just so happened that it fit across the top of the eight foot window perfectly. I didn't want to have any poles supporting it so I used chains dropped from the ceiling to hold it up.
I used the wall clips that came with the shelving to secure it to the wall.
It has lots of strength and looks good. I mounted my shelf with the front lip down so I could store my clamps on it. They are handy and easy to get to but still out of the way. On one end I hang my smaller bar clamps.
I like the wire shelves because they don't collect dust which is always a problem in a wood shop.
I think you could easily chain two shelves together if you have the space. Just make sure that your anchor blot and chain will hold the weight.
You can get these shelves at just about any home improvement store and they aren't all that expensive. They make a great alternative to heavy, solid, particle board shelves.

Doctors Visit
Doesn't it seem that more and more physicians are running their practices like an assembly line? Here's what happened to Buford:
Buford walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. Buford said, "Shingles." So she wrote down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat. Fifteen minutes later a nurse's aide came out and asked Buford what he had. Buford said, "Shingles."
So she wrote down his height, weight, a complete medical history and told Buford to wait in the examining room. A half hour later a nurse came in and asked Buford what he had. Buford said, "Shingles."
So the nurse gave Buford a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, and told Buford to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.
An hour later the doctor came in and asked Buford what he had. Buford said, "Shingles."
The doctor asked, "Where?"
Buford said, "Outside on the truck. Where do you want them?"
Broken Lawn Mower
When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the truck, the car, fishing, always something more important to me.
Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a few minutes.
When I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. "When you finish cutting the grass," I said, "you might as well sweep the sidewalk."
The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.
