BREAD PUDDING WITH CUSTARD SAUCE

Bread Pudding:

  • 4 Cups Bread Cubes lightly packed into cups (4 to 5 slices)
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Raisins
  • 3 Cups Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 2 Eggs
Spread Bread Cubes in an 8" dish.
Sprinkle with Brown Sugar, Salt and Cinnamon if you like.
Melt Butter into warm Milk and stir in Eggs.
Pour over the dish.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 to 50 minutes.

Custard Sauce:

  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/3 teaspoon Salt
Cook on top of a double boiler, medium heat.
When mixture sticks to a metal spoon it is done.
As a variation you can replace the Vanilla with Brown Sugar.

Cut the Bread Pudding into pieces, place in a bowl and pour the Custard Sauce over the top while it is still hot.
