This recipe appeared in our
May 2nd, 2003 Newsletter.

      There are a bazillion chocolate pound cake recipes out there but we think this is one of the best. We think you will agree once you've tired it.

  • 1 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 3 Cups Sugar
  • 3 Cups Cake Flour
  • 4-5 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Cream the Butter, Shortening, and Sugar.
Sift Flour, Cocoa, Baking Powder and Salt.
Add Eggs one at a time alternating with the Milk, Flour and Vanilla.
Put in a pan.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour 15 minutes. Do Not Open The Oven while it is baking.
