PIE CRUSTS

This week we have two recipes for your Thanksgiving guests. Both of them are pie crust recipes that you can use to fill with any of your favorite pie fillings.

Pie Crust

  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 4 Tablespoons Orange Juice
Sift all dry ingredients.
Work in Butter and Shortening with your fingers.
With a knife cut in the Orange Juice.

This will make two 9 inch pie crusts.

Theda's Pie Crust

  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Cups Shortening
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Water
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Vinegar
  • 1 Egg
Sift the Flour.
Mix in Salt.
Hand mix Water Vinegar and Egg.
Blend in Shortening.

This should make 4 - 5 crusts.

Now get to rolling that dough, adding filling (no Black Birds please) and bake up some great turkey day desserts!
